Poems in the City

Event date: April 15 – May 15, 2020

19 poems about the planet. Hear the voice of poets.
19 poetic voices from all over Europe speak on one issue.  Thanks to the action “Poems in the City”, an artistic approach to the issue of ecology, care for the planet and its condition, which is the result of human activity, this spring may be heard more clearly than activists' speeches. In this year’s edition, which is unique due to the situation in the whole world caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of “Poems in the City” – EUNIC Warsaw and the City of Warsaw – want to reach out with a poetic message to people all over Poland and beyond. The online activities started on April 15 and lasted a month.

The creators of “Poems in the City” want the artistic voice of poets from 19 European countries to cross not only the real, but also the virtual borders in 2020 and reach the audience in every Polish town and city. The poetry shall resound with full power, including via online channels and social media. You can read poems by authors from the following countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Flanders, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Moldova, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Spain.
